Realising while writing this that making a news post before the site properly launched was probably a waste of time. Oh well, it worked as a place-holder.
Welcome to the official Bughead.org. I've made plenty of websites in the past, but this was my first time getting my hands dirty with HTML. I'm sure you can tell from the simple layout, but I honestly like it better than any wordpress or squarespace pages I made for the failed projects of yesteryear.
The video of ROACH's set in Worcester MA last December is coming out sometime soon. I've had it done for a hot second, just waiting on the band to get their ducks in a row to drop it. This was the bands last show, and it was a fucking ripper. Collapsed Skull outta Pennsylvania, and DC's Drivel were on tour together and played the first two sets. I hadn't heard of either band, but they've both found a home in my grindcore/powerviolence/crust/etc. playlist. Easy recommend on both of them.
Baltimore PV legends Sinister Feeling followed that up with a set that caused more violence than I had ever seen in a room that small. I was standing 2 rows back and somehow still caught a few blows. The pit could not be contained by bullshit man-made concepts like "circles" or "perimeters." It was a kind of chaos you don't get to see at every show, but is always a joy when you do.
My good friends in ROACH went on after that, but I'll let the video speak for itself when it comes out. I'll write about that set in more detail when the video drops. You can purchase ROACH's first and final album as a cassette through Baby Chico Records, or Digitally on Bandcamp.
In other news, now that the site is up I'm heavy into the post-production for the Crustmas 3 documentary. Saving the thoughts on the event for the doc itself, but it's felt good to sink my teeth into a long form project again.
Well, that's about it I guess. If you'd like to support the Bughead entity, consider buying a pin from the shop. Or better yet, buy the $2 digital copy of the photozine from last year. All profits from it go to LUCE Immigrant Justice Network.
